Organic vs. Inorganic Search Results

While some companies pay to inorganically have their site on the first page of a search engine such as Google or Yahoo, 70-80% of users ignore these inorganic ads. The majority of people prefer to choose organically placed ads, making SEO very important.

One reason for this preference could be that users feel that organically placed sites have more credibility, having earned rather than paid for their spot. With 70% of users choosing organic results, a site that shows up high on an engine's list through its SEO is much more likely to be chosen than a site that has been paid for.
